"As you may know, my organization, California – Renewable and Adaptive Energy (CAL-RAE), is building a solar powered micro-grid electricity system for a rural fishing village on Lake Victoria in Uganda. The system will bring full-time, renewable electricity to businesses and homes, which currently rely on expensive, dirty and unreliable diesel generators for power. The micro-grid will open doors for community businesses, health-clinics, and students. The components for our pilot system are in transit to Uganda currently, and will be installed by our team in the early summer. The pilot system will bring power to 15-20 entrepreneurs and homes. We are now launching a crowdfunding campaign to double the reach of the system." - Fujia Zhang
